OH&LA Quarterly Meetings
OH&LA Lodging Property Members and Allied Members are invited to join the OH&LA Board of Directors on August 19, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, for one of four committee meetings to formulate association activities, followed by our Networking Luncheon, and quarterly OH&LA Board of Directors meeting. We hope you'll take this opportunity to get more involved in OH&LA and gather to visit with existing and prospective members.
This day will provide lodging AND supplier members with a unique way to contribute to the business of the association, and to meet and visit with your peers in the lodging industry. The schedule of meetings is listed below. For Committee Meeting Room assignments, please see signage in lobby. The next OH&LA Quarterly Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the Hilton Tulsa Southern Hills.
- 9:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.: Events Committee Meeting: This committee is responsible for planning activities related to the OH&LA Lodging Summit and Vendor Expo including the board dinner, auction and advising properties on preparation for the Stars of the Industry Awards. The committee is also responsible for other miscellaneous fundraising and event activities when deemed necessary. Allied Members are especially encouraged to attend this committee meeting to help formulate ideas for the Vendor Expo.
- 9:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.: Governmental Affairs Committee Meeting: The Government Affairs Committee is responsible for keeping abreast of proposed or existing legislation that will affect the hospitality industry either locally or nationally. This committee works with the Association Lobbyist and President/CEO in notifying OH&LA members of the status of pending legislation. The committee is also responsible for soliciting personal contributions from to distribute to pro-business political candidates. The ORA PAC is the OH&LA’s internal PAC and focuses on state/local political action initiatives. HOTELPAC is the AH&LA’s federal PAC and focuses on national political action initiatives. Members who donate to either PAC must do so with personal funds as dictated by law.
- 9:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.: Lodging Management Program Committee Meeting: The Lodging Management Program helps Oklahoma's high schools and technology centers prepare young people for careers in lodging and other hospitality positions. This 2-year program uses industry driven curriculum in the classroom combined with mentored internships to provide students with a solid, real-world learning experience and equips them with the skills needed in today's workplace. This initiative is a collaborative effort of the Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association, Oklahoma Restaurant Association, Oklahoma Department of Tourism and Recreation and the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association. ProStart® is a similar program geared toward the students preparing for culinary and foodservice industry careers.
- 9:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.: Member Services Committee Meeting: The Member Services Committee is responsible for evaluating member value-added programs for recommendation or endorsement by the Association (natural gas, credit card, insurance services, etc.). In addition to providing members with discounts some of these programs may provide non-dues revenue for the Association. The Membership Committee is also responsible for recruiting and retaining Association members, as well as the strategies associated with those responsibilities. Another of the committee’s responsibilities is to recommend and evaluate educational programs and materials for members.

- 12:45 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.: OH&LA Board of Directors Meeting
Although members are invited to attend the board meeting, they are not eligible to vote on board matters, or bring additional business from the floor.
