Is Your Hotel Adopting "Safe Stay"
Industry-Wide Enhanced Hotel Cleaning Guidelines?

Picture
The Oklahoma Hotel & Lodging Association is proud to announce its endorsement of Safe Stay - the American Hotel & Lodging Association's (AHLA) new industry-wide, enhanced standard of health and safety protocols. Safe Stay is designed to prepare Americas hotels to safely welcome back guests and employees as the economy reopens.

The voluntary standards of Safe Stay were developed under the guidance of an Advisory Council, comprised of industry leaders representing all segments of the hotel industry, and in conjunction with public health experts to advance best practices for protecting against the coronavirus. Hotels have always met rigorous standards for cleaning and safety and these enhanced guidelines are rooted in recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Although hotels are not required to adopt Safe Stay, the Oklahoma Hotel & Lodging Association highly encourages that lodging operations throughout Oklahoma to adopt these guidelines for employee and guest safety, as well as instilling guest confidence. Like any other business, hotels should follow the recommendations of public health officials and remain in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Safe Stay represents the top priority for the industry, the health, and the safety of guests and employees. These enhanced hotel cleaning practices, social interactions, and workplace protocols will continue to evolve to meet the new health and safety challenges and expectations presented by COVID-19. They include guidance on the following:
  • Employee & guest health
  • Employee responsibilities
  • Cleaning products and protocols
  • Physical distancing

Online Training Course
To further expand the hotel industry's Safe Stay initiative, AHLA announced COVID-19 Precautions for Hotels, an online course developed in partnership with AHLEI and created to help hotels train their staff on the enhanced safety and cleanliness guidelines. This new training course represents a united industry approach around the Safe Stay guidelines endorsed by all major U.S. hotel brands to ensuring the health and safety of guests and employees while continuing to provide outstanding service.

Independent Hotel Online Training Assistance
Effective immediately, OHLA's agreement with AHLEI allows all current and newly enrolled AHLA independent properties the ability to receive 10 trainings per property at no additional cost. These independent properties must have the appropriate discount code when registering their employees for training, so first contact Patti Colley at OHLA to obtain the code.
