Foundation Basics
The Oklahoma Hospitality Foundation is a charitable organization benefiting the restaurant, lodging and tourism industries in Oklahoma. Its mission is to enhance every Oklahoman's life experience by improving hospitality education, student access, and scholarships.

The Oklahoma Hospitality Foundation is:
  • A foundation that was created to present a positive connection between school, work and future employment for young people pursuing careers in the restaurant, culinary and hospitality fields;
  • A foundation that assists students with scholarships to pursue degrees in foodservice and hospitality. Scholarships are awarded to high school graduates, undergraduates, and students pursuing masters and doctorate degrees;
  • A foundation that developed Student Programs to cultivate a new source of talent for the hospitality industry through partnerships dedicated to emphasizing classroom learning, work-based learning, and mentoring programs leading to a recognized national certification; and
  • A foundation that provides educational certification, professional development, food safety and sanitation training and certification, supervisory development workshops, and professional certification courses from the National Restaurant Association.
The Oklahoma Hospitality Foundation has:
  • Awarded over $350,000 in scholarships since 1990;
  • Continually hosted an annual culinary competition for high school students with scholarship awards and trophies; and
  • Remained active in 30 schools and technology centers throughout Oklahoma, with over 800 students participating in hospitality related classes.
Be a part of the Oklahoma Hospitality Foundation:
  • Recognize employees at the Hirst Hospitality Awards.
  • Be a worksite for interns.
  • Conduct a tour of your operation for schools.
  • Do a classroom demonstration or presentation in a school.
  • Make a tax-deductible financial contribution to the Foundation.
  • Be a financial contributing partner for Foundation events.
  • Be a stakeholder in the hospitality industry by investing in Oklahoma's youth and the future success of the industry within your state.
  • Make the Foundation a part of your estate planning with the OHF Planed Giving Program.

It’s time to make your Stars of the Industry nominations! This annual award competition epitomizes the service and spirit of our industry by honoring outstanding individuals and properties in Oklahoma’s lodging industry. Open to all OH&LA member properties, the Stars of the Industry Awards will be presented at a luncheon during the OH&LA Lodging Summit and Vendor Expo in January.

Members of the OH&LA will come together for Hospitality Day at the Capitol, where we will spend time speaking to legislators about issues facing our industry, and then culminate in a fabulous reception with more than 600 members and legislators at the Chevy Bricktown Events Center.

Hundreds of association members recently attended an informational session on the "New Alcohol Laws Coming your Way," presented by attorney Adam Marshall with Barrow & Grimm. The 2-hour session covered the details of the new law, which goes into effect October 1. Mr. Marshall kindly shared his presentation for those who were unable to attend.
